When planning for college, make applying for scholarships a top priority! Scholarships are free money—they don’t have to be repaid—and there are thousands out there.
You can start searching and applying for scholarships while applying to colleges. If you have questions, contact your counselor or visit the College & Career Center—we’re here to help!

Who Offers Scholarships?

High Schools:
The Snohomish School District offers a Local Scholarship Program each February. Watch for updates in the bulletin and on the College & Career Center webpage. -
Colleges & Universities:
Visit the financial aid or scholarship page of the school you’re planning to attend. Note: scholarship deadlines are often earlier than admissions deadlines. -
Employers:
Ask your parents or guardians if their employer offers scholarships. Your own workplace may offer one too. -
Private Organizations & Community Groups:
Many scholarships are offered by individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations. Look for postings in school bulletins, on our webpage, and by searching online. -
Religious & Professional Groups:
Check with your church or any professional or social organizations your family is involved in.
Why Are Scholarships Awarded?
Scholarships may be awarded based on:

Need-based Scholarships & Grants:

Washington College Grant
No separate application required. Complete the FAFSA or WASFA to apply for state financial aid. -
College Bound Scholarship
Available to eligible students who signed up in middle or early high school. Also requires a completed FAFSA or WASFA.

WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) – Study out of state in the West at reduced tuition.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship – For Washington students in eligible STEM or health care majors.
